UKJSU Stavanger has a Padre who is based locally and forms an integral part of the community.

There are a few churches which welcome english speaking personnel from all denominations.

Facilities:  

Facilities are described on the UKJSU arrival packs.  Membership of the NATO JWC Sports Club allows use of a large number of local recreational and sporting facilities for free or at a discounted price.  The main gymnasium used by JWC personnel is called Elixir and is a two storey building which caters for all fitness levels. Elixir runs fitness classes throughout the week at all times and there is something for everyone. It also has a creche for young children. A ski club exists and there are numerous opportunities for cross-country, alpine skiing and snowboarding.  There is a well equipped sailing club and other active sports clubs offer golf, diving and football, to name but a few.  There are hundreds of walks and treks for those who want to see more of Norway also.

On site, there is a well-stocked library, Central Cellar (UK shop), Community Club, Three Swords bar, Thrift Shop, US BX, hairdressers and beauty salon.  There is a well-attended International Ladies Group and there are numerous community events provided each year.

The JWC is only 6 miles from the nearest beach.
