UKJSU Ramstein

Employment

The UKJSU has limited opportunities for the employment of dependants, but please note the following which may assist you in your search for employment.

The UKJSU currently employs approximately 30 dependants and directly engaged civilians (from the the German net), in a variety of jobs throughout the unit. The majority of appointments are clerical and most are based in the UKJSU building. We also employ dependants to act as School Bus Escorts and standby escorts during school terms. Jobs are advertised on the UKJSU notice board in the foyer of Building 539 and in the Brit Bull Magazine. The Community Services Clerk sends any job adverts to all the email addresses she has and they are also sent to all UK personnel on the NATO LAN system, so ask your husband/wife to look out for them.

To apply for any position, you must first complete a Dependents Registration Form. First you will need to register with the Civilian Administration Officer (Civ Ad O) in Building 539. Once registered, you will automatically be notified of any advertised vacancies as they arise, as your Registration Form will be kept on file until you are employed within the UKJSU. If there are any changes in the details originally given (i.e. change of address, Spouse's Unit etc) please notify the Civ Ad O immediately. It would also be appreciated if you could advise if you wish to be removed from the register or if you find alternative employment in order that records may be kept up to date.

In addition to the UKJSU vacancies, you can also apply at the Brit Shop, Brit Cafe, Forces Travel and St David's School, Ramstein. These places have seperate recruiting procedures, therefore you will need to contact each one individually. However, the Civ Ad O will be pleased to help you liaise with them. There are also a wide range of jobs available, through the Americans, on Ramstein Air Base. These include clerical, catering and retail work. To apply you will require a letter from the UKJSU confirming your dependant status and a copy of your passport. These are then taken to the American Human Resources Office in Building 2118 and can be reached on 06371 472672 or apply online at www.435thservices.com where you will be advised on any suitable vacancies. There are also several ndependent franchise retail and catering outlets on Ramstein Air Base, all of whom advertise vacancies in a variety of ways. Any enquires, regarding vacancies, should be made direct to the outlet managers.

If you require any further information regarding any of the above, then please do not hesitate to contact the Civilian Administration Officer on 06371 401403 or ext 1403 between 0800 and 1400 hours.
