MEDICAL:

NAPLES:

PRIMARY CARE   British Forces Clinic which may be used by Service personnel and entitled dependants.

The British Forces’ Clinic is located in RHQ JFC and is part of the UKNSU. The Clinic serves all Service personnel, entitled dependents, SCE teachers and British Consulate staff.

The Clinic is staffed by:
An RN Medical Officer – a fully qualified GP with experience in Family Practice
A QARNNS Nursing Officer who is the Practice Nurse
A locally employed civilian who runs the Medical History Section.
A locally employed dependent who is the secondary care co-ordinator.
A Cpl RAF Medical Admin who is responsible for the running of Pharmacy and the Medical Store.
Two locally employed civilian receptionists (who work alternate weeks)
A SSAFA Midwife, who is also responsible for Southern Europe
A SSAFA Health visitor, who is also responsible southern Europe
A Social worker, who is also responsible for Southern Europe.

The aim of the Clinic is to provide, wherever possible, a primary care service equivalent to that available in the UK. They are, however, a small team and do not have access to the full range of primary care and hospital disciplines; in particular there is no regular ENT, dermatology or urology support. Obstetrical cover is good and uncomplicated pregnancies can be managed locally without difficulty. It is therefore essential that if you have significant existing medical problems you declare these prior to arrival (see Medical Preparation), as personnel with certain medical conditions may be discouraged from coming to Naples. If you are taking any prescribed medication please ensure that you bring at least 3 months supply with you and inform the Clinic early on arrival. The dispensary carries a limited range of medicines and we may have to order your drugs from the UK. A Comprehensive Practice Booklet will be given to you on arrival that will explain the Clinic routines and organisation in detail.
