Vehicle Registration

Within 30 Days of arival at Brunssum, you must register your private motor vehicle with the Dutch vehicle registration office. Prior to doing this you must have Dutch Motor Insurance and have at least 9 months MOT on your vehicle or have had a Dutch APK inspection carried out. Additionally, you must have completed a European Matrix test at the UK National MT section. This can be booked on Ext 3836. To book an appointment for Initial Vehicle Registration call the Vehicle Registration Office on Ext 2114. Until you have registered your motor vehicle, you will not be eligible for the NATO fuel allowance as described below.

Dutch Motor Insurance must be taken before registration of your vehicle will be allowed. Please be aware, some UK companies will tell you they insure in Holland. For the majority this will not be the case, they only cover for Holiday periods. For more information on companies you can use, please do not hesitate to contact the Vehicle Registration Office direct.

NATO Fuel Allowance

All personnel who have registered a vehicle at JFC HQ Brunssum will receive a NATO fuel allowance. This allowance, unlike Germany and its Fuel Coupon system, is paid directly into your Bank Account and is based on the fuel type of your vehicle. Present Figures are as follows:

Petrol: 130.00 euro per month

Diesel: 80.00 euro per month

LPG: 35.00 euro per month

This allowance is paid on only one vehicle per family. If you have two or more vehicles, think carefully before declaring which is your nominated vehicle. Additionally, if you have more than 2 vehicles per family, including motorcycles, you will be required to pay Dutch Road Tax on the additional vehicle. This is based on the weight of your vehicle, so once again, think carefully before you nominate the vehicle on which you will pay road tax.
