Rheindahlen Support Unit Community Welfare Centre
The RSU Community Welfare Centre is located in the shopping area of the Rheindahlen Military Complex (RMC), behind the Church Centre in Building 44.This Welfare Office provides welfare support and assistance to the military personnel within RESG.

Church and Padre
Pastoral care is provided by the padre from UKJSU Brunssum and church services in English are available at Brunssum or Rheindahlen. In addition, there is an Anglican Chaplaincy in Nijmegen and Arnhem just across the border in the Netherlands, where services are conducted in English (click here to visit the website).
There are also numerous local churches of various denominations, most of which hold services in German. In general, the churches and cathedrals in this area of Germany are beautiful and well worth a visit.

Kalkar Wives Club
The aim of the Kalkar Wives Club is to promote international friendship while learning about and enjoying the Kalkar area. Each nationality has a designated National Representative on the Wives Club Executive Committee. Generally, the Wives Club programme includes a monthly coffee morning for all members with at least 1 additional outing per month throughout the year. On a more regular basis, members are involved in a weekly bridge class/club, foreign language discussion groups, aerobic classes and multicultural cooking demonstrations. New members and their guests are invited to attend any of these activities. The newsletter “THE PINK LETTER” is a membership benefit, or can be subscribed to on an individual basis.

Multinational Families Service Centre (MFSC)
The task of MFSC is to assist and counsel NATO military personnel and their dependents in matters of daily life. They can help you with many different things, including finding a babysitter, day care, kindergartens, local schools, housing, setting up and paying utilities, bank accounts and VAT forms.

Goch UK Community Club
Two adjoining SFA have been refurbished to provide a UK Community Centre Club on the Goch patch. The UKCC is financially self supporting and a small monthly membership subscription is charged. It has an adult and children’s library, an information room, free internet access, table tennis, a pool table, a bar and is the UK community focus at Goch. There is also a washing machine and tumbler dryer for use free of charge in the cellar and various gardening tools and machinery are available for loan. A small committee runs the Community Club. Regular bar nights are held as well as other social functions throughout the year.

Language Training
Knowledge of some basic German words and phrases as you come out here will prove invaluable.


The HIVE is an information centre for the Service Community, which includes single and married serving personnel, civilian MOD employees and their dependents.

HQ RESG G1 deals with all manner of Community Support issues from legal to medical, from compassionate to education with the emphasis on SUPPORT for the Command and the Community.
The SSAFA Community Health Service is established in BFG, offering a comprehensive Health Visiting Programme, which includes a Home Visiting Program, regular Well Baby Clinics and Immunization Clinics. SSAFA also provides a professional Social Work Service, offering assistance in adoption, matrimonial matters and problems with children. The service is similar to that offered by UK Social Services Departments. Visits from SSAFA can be arranged and the social worker will offer a regular visiting service. She is also the nominated social worker in case of difficulties.
